Wayne Hightower

Mr. Wayne Hightower of Broaddus passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at CHI St. Luke's Medical Center in Lufkin at the age of 78 years, 11 months, 22 days.

Wayne was born October 3, 1944, in San Augustine County to parents Marvin Vernon and Louise (Evans) Hightower and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities. Wayne adored his family and found so much love for spending time with them. Hightower traveled many miles in his long trucking career and also was an accomplished carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

His survivors include his wife, Brenda Lowe Hightower of Broaddus; sons, Stacy Hightower and wife Laille of Lufkin and Scott Hightower of Huntington; daughters, Tracy Schutts and husband Lance of San Antonio, Paula Porter and husband Roger of Center, and Amanda Logan of Nacogdoches; a brother, Vernon Ray Hightower of San Augustine; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Louise Hightower; his father-in-law, Cecil Lowe; mother-in-law, Tommie Coleman; son, Eric Hightower; daughters, Carla Hightower and Jessica Hightower; and siblings.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia St. in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Chapel with Bro. Charleston Johnson officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Dickerson Cemetery, located on Country Road 4255.

Pallbearers: Stacy Hightower, Cody Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Colton Schutts, Triston Porter, and Lance Schutts. Honorary pallbearers: Paula Porter and Katlan Sowell.
