Wande Jean Askew

Mrs. Wande Jean Askew, age 75, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Askew was born February 25, 1945, in Harris County, Texas, and had lived in San Augustine County for several years. She grew up in the Houston area as the oldest of seven siblings and graduated with Smiley High School's Class of 1965. Jean later attended Angelina College School of Nursing and worked 25 years as a nurse in several area hospitals and nursing homes. She was an avid plant lover and had a great passion for dogs and horses. She was a member of Harvey Creek Baptist Church in Broaddus, Texas.

Her survivors include her husband of 27 years, Donny Askew of San Augustine County, Texas; daughter, Stacie Lynn Norwood and husband Brian of Hallsville, Texas; a son, Don Hill of Hallsville, Texas; a daughter, Heather Dawn Butler and husband Shaun of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Johnathon and Angie Luttrell, Remington Hill, Zoe and Noah Halupa, Hayden J. Butler, Shaun Michael Butler II,; and Ann Marie Luttrell; a great-grandchildren, Sawyer Halupa.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Hugh Mixon and Bro. Don Lofton officiating. Interment will follow at Broaddus Cemetery in Broaddus, Texas.

Pallbearers: Joe Dixon, Steve Flores, Remington Hill, Shaun Butler, Daniel Joyce, and Noah Halupa.
