Mr. Vernon "Skeeter" Dixon, age 67, a longtime resident of the Broaddus, Texas, area, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, Texas.
Skeeter was born Aug. 7, 1953, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents R.E. "Bronk" Dixon and Mary Ellen (Hickman) Dixon and had been a lifelong resident of the Broaddus area. He was a 1971 graduate of Broaddus High School and a self-employed water well driller, having been the youngest registered driller in the State of Texas. He was a member of Harvey Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Wanda Vann Dixon of Broaddus, Texas; children, Cecilia Dixon of Lufkin, Texas, Laura Dixon of Montgomery, Texas, Jeffery Dixon of Crockett, Texas, Jimi Davis of Katy, Texas, and Maria Bush of Patroon, Texas; brother, Joe Dixon of San Augustine, Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Dixon of Lufkin, Texas; and his grandchildren, Bryce Davis, Addison Sabari, Aidan Wood, McKayla McCoy, and Madylon McCoy. He would always say just a smile, and a few kinds words...
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. "Bronk" and Mary Ellen Dixon.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Hugh Mixon officiating. Interment will follow at Runnels Cemetery near Broaddus, Texas.
