Velma "Sis" Jane Lumley Sharpton, age 94, of Wooster, Ohio, previously of San Augustine, Texas, passed from this life on February 18, 2021.
Born April 29, 1926, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Leroy and Irene Earl Lumley, Sis married Charles R. Sharpton Sr. on January 7, 1946, in San Augustine, Texas. They were married 71 years until his death in 2017.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who poured her heart and life into her family.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles R. Sharpton Sr.; son-in-law, Kenneth Jacks; great-grandson, Kaanan Sharpton; sisters, June Rainey, Virginia Walsh, and Kathryn Freshwater; and parents, Leroy and Irene Lumley.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherrie Jacks of Gladewater, Texas, Sharon Cassady and husband Gary of Lititz, Pennsylvania, and Lorie Mendenhall and husband Dennis of Wooster, Ohio; sons, Charles Sharpton Jr. and wife Connie of Seville, Ohio, and Bill Sharpton and wife Holly of Powder Springs, Georgia; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for for 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Cliff Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery, located off FM 711 in Shelby County, Texas.
