Terry El Markle Sr.

Mr. Terry El Markle Sr., age 57, of the Scrappin' Valley area of Sabine County, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at his residence.

Terry was born April 22, 1963, in Lufkin, Texas, and graduated from Diboll High School in 1982. He retired from Temple Lumber Company, having worked several years as a millwright at the Pineland and Diboll locations. In recent years Terry was also well known for his meat processing expertise.

He and his family moved to Sabine County, Texas, in 2007. Terry was a faithful Christian, serving as a deacon and dedicated member of Yellowpine-Macedonia Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially having a love for hunting.

His survivors include his wife of almost 36 years, Nancy (Johnson) Markle, married since June 3, 1985; son, Terry El "L.T." Markle Jr. and wife Jodi of Scrappin' Valley; daughter, Laura Jane Markle and fiance Blake Fountain of Scrappin' Valley; grandson, Logan Clopp of Scrappin' Valley; a grandson expected in June; mother, Helen Jean (Burnett) Temple of Hudson, Texas; sister, Cheryl Bomar and husband Kenneth of Diboll, Texas; brothers, Dean Markle and wife Kimberly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Ronnie Markle and wife Jan of Diboll, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William El "Bill" Markle, in 2005.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Yellowpine-Macedonia Baptist Church, located at the intersection of Hwy. 87 South and FM 2343 in Sabine County's Yellowpine Community, with Bro. T.A. Lane and Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow at Mason Smith Cemetery, located on Hyden Town Drive in Scrappin' Valley.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Yellowpine-Macedonia Baptist Church.

Pallbearers: James Tyler Markle, Brandall Tolbert, Ben Wagner, Aaron Lee, Jerry Welch, and David Ray Craig. Honorary pallbearers: Payton Thompson, Dean White, Roger Hyden, and Jerry Dan Webb.
