Mr. S.J. Butler, age 81, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at CHI St. Luke's Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.
He was born January 7, 1941, in San Augustine County to parents W.W. "Zack" and Nellie Leola (Phillips) Butler. A longtime area resident, Mr. Butler retired from Deep East Texas Electric Co-op with 34 years service, working from 1964 to 1998, and was a member of San Augustine Missionary Baptist Church. He had a great love for farming, including cattle, gardening, and tending the many trees in his pecan orchard.
His survivors include his wife, Elaine Collins Butler of San Augustine, Texas; a sister, Earline Cleveland of San Augustine, Texas; brothers, Floyd Butler and wife Mary Ann of Milam, Texas, Charles Edward Butler and wife Connie of Conroe, Texas, and Gerald Butler and wife Georgia of Victoria, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and W.W. "Zack" Butler; a sister, Geraldine Adkinson; and a brother, Hollis Wayne Butler.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.
Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Gerald W. Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at Rosevine Cemetery, located on FM 1 in Sabine County, Texas.
Pallbearers: Jerry Lynn Butler, James Craig Butler, Charles Landry Butler, Dwight Cleveland, Dwayne Cleveland, and Kenny Jones.
