Obituary
Mr. Rufus Douglas Everett, age 87, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at StoneCreek Village Nursing Home.
Mr. Everett was born May 1, 1936, in Ridge, Robertson County, Texas, to parents Rufus Marshall Everett and Minnie Olivia (Willingham) Everett and had been a longtime resident of San Augustine County. Mr. Everett had worked with various jobs through the years and spent many years tending his poultry farm in San Augustine County. He loved animals and nature. Mr. Everett enjoyed cooking and the preparation of many delicious dishes.
As a faithful Christian man, Bro. Rufus was a dedicated member of Attoyac Baptist Church. He was a deacon and joyously served his church in many capacities. He also had a great love for his family, especially grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
His survivors include a son, Douglas Wayne Everett and wife Cheryl of Diboll, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth Brasher and husband Rick of Lufkin, Texas, Susan Everett of Pineland, Texas, and Tammy Wells and husband Matthew of San Augustine County, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Everett; his parents, Rufus Marshall and Minnie Olivia Everett; a son, Edward Lynn Everett; daughter, Laura Lee Everett; and his siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023, at Attoyac Baptist Church, located at 600 FM 3316, San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Attoyac Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Sowell and Bro. Tim Swanson officiating. Interment will be at Attoyac Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Kevin Gentry, Brandon Tarver, Burl Gene Tarver, Virgil Reynolds, Andrew Oelberg, and Josh Kyle. Honorary pallbearers: Dylan Wells and Robert Brown.
His family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rufus Everett.
