Ronnie Elmo Rule

Mr. Ronnie Rule, age 73, of San Augustine passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Baylor/St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston.

A longtime San Augustine area resident, Ronnie was born August 1, 1947, in Orange to parents Elmo Rule and Oleta Bodine Rule. He was a proud veteran, having served his country with the U.S. Air Force, 1966-1970. He also served in Vietnam. Ronnie was active with the American Legion and VFW Posts. He faithfully did a lot of volunteer work, especially with projects benefiting veterans. 

He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. He and his wife Patti enjoyed traveling, as well as spending time with family, working outdoors, and gardening.

His survivors include his wife, Patti Rule of San Augustine; sons, Greg Michael of Italy, Texas, and Tim Michael and wife Jenny of Italy, Texas; grandsons, Chase Michael of Fort Worth, Bryan Michael of Lewisville, Adam Michael and wife Amanda of Clearwater Beach, Florida, and Ethan Michael and Jerra Pierce of San Angelo; a sister, Dixie Reese of Beaumont; a brother, Tim Rule and wife Sherryll of San Augustine; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephew, whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Oleta Rule.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, located at 1289 Texas Highway 147 North in San Augustine, with Pastor Frank Holrath officiating. Interment will follow with veteran's rites at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church.
