Mr. Richard Eugene Murphy, age 93, of Frisco, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas.
Mr. Murphy was a native and former longtime resident of San Augustine, Texas. He was born February 6, 1928, to parents Cecil R. Murphy and Alice Whitton Murphy and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Murphy attended Baylor University and Lamar University, earning a Bachelors degree in History. He worked as a laboratory technician for DuPont in Orange, Texas, for more than 30 years before retiring and returning to San Augustine.
His survivors include his wife of 65 years, Addie Mae Murphy of Frisco; daughter Judy Furney and husband, Doug, of Celina, Texas; son Michael Murphy and wife, Kim, of Kennewick, Washington; brother Neal Murphy and wife, Clara, of San Augustine; granddaughters Meghan Furney and Kate Furney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Alice Murphy of San Augustine; sister Evelyn Block of Lufkin; and grandson, Ian Murphy of Galveston.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 26, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ronnie Ham and Rev. Frank Holrath. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers include: Doug Murphy, Lester Fatheree, Daniel Work, Jason Beasley, Jimmy Hardy, Billy Johnson, and John Letney.
