Frank Morris Thompson was born to Fred and Effie Thompson on October 6, 1930, in Hamilton County, Texas, and passed away Friday, September 11, 2021, at his home in Houston County.
A former longtime resident of San Augustine, Mr. Thompson had been a minister since 1963 and pastored multiple local churches including Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Denning for 32 years. He had been a combat soldier in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star medals. He retired from Reliant Energy in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Arbeline, in 2019.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughter, Mary Nichols of Chireno, Texas; sons, Mike Thompson and wife Charla of Trinity, Texas, Billy Thompson of Lovelady, Texas, Bruce Thompson and wife Gina of Trinity, Texas, and Mark Thompson and wife Tracy of Lovelady, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Conwell, Cameron Nichols, Cody Thompson, Randy Logan, James Ross Thompson and Tyler Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4216 County Road 220, with Bro. Kenneth Myers, Bro. Greg Kitts, and Charles Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
