Philip Dailey Obituary

Philip "Vennon" Dailey, age 89, of Broaddus, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, in San Augustine.

Philip was born on January 31, 1931, in San Augustine County to Arilee (Hanks) Byley and Phillip Dailey.  He had lived in the Broaddus area for a number of years and was a jack of all trades.  He graduated from Broaddus High School.  He retired from Temple-Inland and later returned to road construction.  He was a farmer/rancher and was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in San Augustine County.

Philip was married to his childhood sweetheart Suzy for over 63 years.  Philip lived his last year and 3 months in Holiday Nursing Home in Center, Texas, due to Alzheimer's. He still spoke of love for farming, ranching, and his dogs, and cattle.

His survivors include his children, Jerry Sue McCormick and her husband Billy of Dallas, P.V. Dailey and his wife Dana of Chireno, Ronald Dailey and wife Rita of the Grapevine Community, Charley Dailey and wife Holly of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Charnette Garrett and husband Tim of Chireno; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzy Dailey; his parents, Phillip Dailey and Arilee (Hanks) Byley; and a great-grandchild, Rhett Garrett.

Graveside Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, in the Levi Crow Cemetery located off 705 South located in San Augustine County, Texas.

The family has requested that social distancing be observed and face mask be worn at the service.
