Nora Dean Holloway

Mrs. Nora Dean Holloway, age 89, of Denning, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Legacies Care Center in Hemphill, Texas.

A graduate of Chireno High School, Mrs. Holloway was born October 7, 1933, in Chireno, Texas, to parents Joshua and Nonie Mae (Foreman) Phillips and was a lifelong resident of the area. She had worked at several local retail businesses throughout the years and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

 Nora Dean enjoyed quilting and canning. She was an avid "42" player and also spent countless hours as a caretaker for elderly and sick in the community.

Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Murdock of Nacogdoches, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Jeanne Holloway of Chireno, Texas, and Byron and Patsy Holloway of Denning, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Willean Conte of Atlanta, New York, Lucille and Doyle Burnett of Huntington, Texas, and Ethel and Kenneth Sims of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughters, Heather Hull and Nina Holloway; grandsons, Gregg Murdock, Ronald Murdock, Howdy Murdock, Josh Holloway, Caleb Holloway, and Harley Holloway; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Mae Phillips; brother, Homer Phillips; and sisters, Pauline Spinks and Ruby Collins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine with Bro. Randy Mills officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Lower Chireno Cemetery, located off FM 95 South in Chireno, Texas.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters as honorary pallbearers.
