Mr. Morris Guilford Goodner, age 91, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his residence.
Mr. Goodner was born December 18, 1929, in Cowlington, Oklahoma, to parents Cloris (Hill) and Albert Benjiman Goodner. He was a former longtime resident of New Caney, Texas. After retiring as a tool inspector for Reed Tool Bit (later acquired by Baker Hughes), he moved to San Augustine County and worked several more years in San Augustine Independent School District's maintenance department.
In New Caney, he was a longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He was a member of Little's Chapel Baptist Church in more recent years. A veteran, he served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. He loved his family and friends, always being helpful while having a smile and kind word for everyone.
His survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Goodner of San Augustine, Texas; his daughters, Vanessa Ann Sistrunk and husband Walter of Munford, Tennessee, Barbara Fay Shelton of Clyde, Texas, Deborah Lynn Klein and husband William of Chireno, Texas, and Teresa Renee Camp of Waco, Texas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloris and Albert Benjiman Goodner.
Memorial services are planned for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Little's Chapel Baptist Church, located at 2508 County Road 434 near Chireno, Texas. Inurnment will be at Little's Chapel Cemetery.
