Monroe Bass

Monroe Bass, age 81, of Lufkin, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at his residence.

He was born November 8, 1939, to the late Sam Bass and Betsy (Honnie) Bass. He had several occupations, including, store clerk, bus driver, and septic truck operator. He also was a Baptist Minister for some time. He enjoyed spending time with family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margie (Steptoe) Bass; sons, John Norman and Mitch Norman, both of Broaddus, Timmy Steptoe, Jerry Steptoe, David Bass, all of Lufkin, Frank Bass Jr. of Huntington, and Sammy Bass of Houston; daughters, Telisa Sheffield of Etoile, Sherry Bass of Livingston, Beth Bass of Rusk, and Mary Bass of Carthage; 29 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, San Augustine, Texas, with Bro. David Ebarb officiating. Burial will follow at Sowell Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine, Texas.

Pallbearers include James Tillery, Raymond Vasquez, Chris Miller, Johnathan Tillery, Edward Lynn Steptoe, Cody Bass, and Michael Bass.
