Mari Linne Franzine Falkenhagen

Mari Linne Franzine Falkenhagen passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Broaddus, Texas, at the age of 86.

Mary “Mari” Linne Franzine Larson Falkenhagen was born October 24, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Franz Elier Larson and Myrtle Evelyn Augusta (Krantz) Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dolores Pointer and Carole Reichert, and husband Lyle Everly Falkenhagen. She peacefully passed on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the residence of her daughter, Diana Barth.

Mari loved serving the Lord. She worked in the church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher/Director, ESL teacher, Women’s Bible Study Leader, Youth Leader, Church Treasurer, and eventually Pastor’s wife. She served through many mission trips and disaster relief. She received a certificate of Theology from Baptist Bible Institute of Graceville, Florida. She retired from 1st Interstate Bank as Head Teller and Regional Trainer.

Mari enjoyed sharing God’s Word with others, walking in nature on the beach and in the forest, reading, and travel. As a first generation American, she was proud of her heritage as a Swede and American.

Mari was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Lyle E. Falkenhagen. She is survived by her four children: son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Lisa Falkenhagen; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Wm Wayne Barth; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Sabrina Falkenhagen; and daughter Julie Bunch. Mari is also survived by her eight grandchildren: William Barth (Ashley), Aaron Barth (Priscilla), Amanda Powell, Sarah Arnett (Matthew), Bryant Barth (Robyn), Jason Falkenhagen, Tracey Bunch, and Taylor Falkenhagen. She is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Broaddus.
