Margie (Luther) Steptoe Bass

Margie Luther Steptoe Bass, age 79, of Etoile, Texas, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

She was born January 30, 1944, in Bronson, Texas, to parents Ada Bell (Parker) and Tilman Oxford Luther. She has lived in several areas of East Texas through her life and was a homemaker, gladly taking care of her family's needs. She had also worked at several area restaurants, convenience stores, and other businesses in the area.

Her survivors include her children, John Norman and wife Dawn, Mitch Norman, Telisa Sheffield and husband David, Timothy Steptoe, Jerry Steptoe, and David Bass; her siblings, Shirley DuBose, Doyle Luther, Jim Luther, Linda Campbell, Carolyn Krupps Teal, and Marilyn McClellan; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Bell (Parker) and Tilman Oxford Luther; husbands, Cecil Steptoe and Monroe Bass; and a brother, Charles Ray Luther.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Old Norwood Church, located on FM 1992.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas, with Bro. Doyle Luther officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at the Sowell Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Christopher Miller, James Tillery, David Bass Jr., Dillon Rollins, Skylor Collins, Cody Bass, Billy Parker, and Colby Merriman.
