Margaret (Ferguson) Oliver

December 24, 1922 ~ June 16, 2023 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Margaret (Ferguson) Oliver, passed from this life to her heavenly home early Friday morning, June 16, 2023, in San Augustine, at the age of 100 years, 5 months, and 23 days.

She was born on Christmas Eve December 24, 1922, in McCurtain, Oklahoma, to parents Rita (Ashby) Ferguson and Calvin Ferguson. She married the love of her life, Luther Oliver on her birthday, December 24, 1940, celebrating almost 57 years of marriage until his death on October 25, 1997.  The matriarch of 6 generations of children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.  A Godly woman, she was a homemaker who lived her life as true to her faith as humanly possible.  She was so energetic, quick to understand, and answer (if she heard you), so smart and at 100 years of age could recall everyone by their name, and had the most loving laugh, and loved to sing.  She was one of the early pioneers of Rosevine United Pentecostal Church, a church that she dearly loved and held close to her heart.  After 100 years as his faithful servant and a pillar to her family and friends, she has returned to her eternal home. She has fought a good fight, and finished her course, and kept her faith, and great is her reward.

Those left to cherish her memory include, daughters, Carolyn Smith of Rosevine and Tena Mills of San Augustine; son, Ricky Oliver and wife Carol of Rosevine; daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Oliver of Houston; brother, Bruce Ferguson and wife Carol of Rosevine; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luther Oliver; son, Vernon Luther Oliver; grandsons, Yancey Oliver, Eddie Oliver and Kenneth (Bubba) Burkett; parents, Calvin and Rita Ferguson; her siblings, Velma King, Irene Oliver, Adell Burch, Geraldine Goynes, Francis Sarver, Edna Cook, Myrtle Boyd, Albert Ferguson, and Eugene Ferguson.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Oliver, Heath Smith, Caleb Hankla, Seth Hankla, Sam Hankla, Jack Hankla, Dylan Oliver, Tony Minsquero, and Derek Burkett.
