Lorene W. Whisenhunt

Mrs. Lorene W. Whisenhunt, age 80, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Whisenhunt was born June 15, 1940, in San Augustine County, Texas, to parents Horace Whitehead and Ardella Fountain Whitehead and lived in the Houston, Texas, for a number of years before returning to San Augustine. She retired from the food service department of Aldine Independent School District and then worked at Colonial Pines Healthcare Center upon moving back to San Augustine. She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her children, Donald Steptoe and wife Brenda, Pamela Smith and husband Ronald, Theresa Primrose and husband Bo, and Joe Steptoe and wife Barbara; a sister, Laverne Burnaman; sister-in-law, Delores Whitehead; "extra sisters," Maxie, Dixie, and Jane; a special person, Stacy; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whisenhunt; parents, Horace and Ardella Whitehead; brothers, Lester Whitehead and L.C. Whitehead; grandson, Jerry Casey III; brother-in-law, Tucker Burnaman; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Whitehead.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Trey Taylor, Larry Smith, Bradley Steptoe, Christopher Steptoe, Tim Hardy, and Bo Primrose.
