Lena Phillips

Mrs. Lena Phillips, age 94, of Broaddus, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in San Augustine.  

She was born to the late Josephine (Horton) McDaniel and Jasper McDaniel on March 11, 1927, in San Augustine County, Texas.   A longtime resident of Broaddus, she was a beloved mother to her children, and a loving grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly, and she was a longtime member of Harvey Creek Baptist Church in Broaddus. 

Those who are left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Audrey Steptoe of Broaddus; son, Maynard Phillips and his wife JoAnn of Lufkin; grandchildren, Rhonda and Brad Weaver, Jeff and Pam Wise, Melody Wise, Matthew Wise, Monique Williams and "Bubba" Earl Williams; great-grandchildren, Jessica Stevens, Lindsey Mayes, Tiffany Wise, Cody Wise, Zachary Bryan, Trenton Bryan, Amanda Arndt, and Britny Hutto; 9 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Prala Phillips; one sister; three brothers; her parents, Josephine and Jasper McDaniel; daughter, Kathie Waller and son-in-law Keary; son-in-law, Jimmy Steptoe; and son-in-law, Jerry Wise.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.  Officiating will be her son, Bro. Maynard Phillips, with interment following in the Macedonia Cemetery located off County Road 319 near Broaddus, Texas. 

Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Wise, Brian Arndt, Logan Pleasant, Cody Wise, Trenton Bryan, and Brad Weaver.  Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Wise, Zachary Bryan.
