Lawrence Matthews Obituary

Mr. Lawrence James Matthews of Nederland, Texas, passed away early Friday, January 31, 2020, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 66 years, 2 months, 26 days.

Mr. Matthews was born November 5, 1953, in Port Arthur, Texas, and had been a longtime resident of the Jefferson County area. He had worked as an insulator in the area's plants.

His survivors include sons, Thomas J. Matthews and wife Susan Lane Matthews of Pineland, Texas, and Jeremiah Matthews of Groves, Texas; a grandson, Caleb Matthews of Nederland, Texas; a granddaughter, Laynee Matthews of Pineland, Texas; and two sisters, Jackie Bennett of Dunbar, West Virginia, and Michaelene Green of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, James B. "Sonny" Matthews Jr.; his mother, Jeraldine "Jerry" Brammer Matthews; and a brother, Dennis Matthews.

A family celebration of Lawrence's life will be held at a later time.
