Kealon Doyle Hightower

Mr. Kealon Doyle Hightower, age 62, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Kealon was born June 30, 1958, in Center, Texas, to parents Jackie Doyle and Shirley Lee (Jones) Hightower and had been a lifelong area resident. He had retired Aug. 31, 2020, as San Augustine County maintenance supervisor for Texas Department of Transportation. Kealon had worked for TxDOT for 15 years and had previously worked for San Augustine County Road & Bridge for over 20 years, elected as Precinct 3 Commissioner in 2000.

With an outstanding testimony as a Christian man, he was most recently a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was kind hearted and always helpful to anyone. Kealon was a fabulous father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Outdoor activity was a great passion for Kealon, who had a wonderful love for hunting and fishing.

His survivors include his wife, Debra K. Hightower of San Augustine County; a son, Steve Saenz Jr. and wife Alisa of Triadelphia, West Virginia; daughters, Carmen Brown and Leatha Saenz, both of San Augustine County; his mother, Shirley Lee Hightower of San Augustine; brothers, Ralph Hightower and wife Tessie Mae of Broaddus and Micah Hightower and wife Melody of San Angelo; and eight grandchildren, Eric D. Saenz, Lydia Hall, Trey Saenz, Arlyn Hall, Katelynn Brown, Courtney Brown, Magan Saenz, and Aubrienna Saenz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Doyle Hightower.

Graveside services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, at the Dickerson Cemetery, located on County Road 4255 off FM 3279 in the Grapevine community, with Bro. Wade Bryan and Bro. Don Lofton officiating.

Pallbearers: Joey Watson, Justin Harrison, Bradly High, Jarrod Byley, Lucas Holloway, Ernie Mills, Ben Byley, and Brent Lee. Honorary pallbearers: Jimmy Johnson, Joey Holloway, Robert Birdwell, and Darren Fountain.
