Katherine Iris (Porter) Wilson

On Friday, January 1, 2021, Katherine "Kathy" Iris Wilson (Porter) passed away at the age of 70.

Kathy was born on September 26, 1950 in Houston, Texas, to Iris "Son" and Helen Elaine Porter with twin sister Kathleen "Katie." In July of 1970, she was wed to Danny Wilson, with whom she shared two daughters, Laurie and Tisha. As a Baytown resident for 37 years, she worked for Barbers Hill ISD and Goose Creek CISD before providing 25 years of service to the Lee College Mall Extension where she was kindly known as "Kathy at the mall." She was also a long-time member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ. Following retirement, Kathy relocated to Broaddus, Texas, where she began serving in the Powell Town Volunteer Fire Department and joined the Pineland Church of Christ. Her dedication to fire safety and residents of her town was as clear as her unwavering devotion to Christ. A strong believer in philanthropy, Kathy volunteered every chance she could and committed heavily to helping others. Her love for her family was fierce, and she enjoyed spoiling each and every one of her grandchildren. Kathy's kind and compassionate spirit was infectious. To know her was to love her. If she's ever hosted you, played a game of dominoes with you, or given you a hug, just know that it made her day to have shared that moment.
 
Kathy is reunited with her husband, Danny, and father, Iris. She is survived by her mother, Helen Elaine; sister, Katie; daughters, Laurie (husband, Randy) and Tisha (husband, Nick); grandchildren, Amanda (husband Stephen), Alissa, Kaylinn, Christian, and McKale; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Porter; niece, Jennifer; brother-in-law, Barry; and nephew, Cody.
 
Kathy will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, a funeral will not take place and a graveside service will be private consisting only of immediate family.

For those who wish to pay their respects in person, you may visit the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 10am-5pm. We request COVID safety protocols be followed while in attendance.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Kathy's name to the Powell Town Volunteer Fire Department (309 CR 478, Broaddus, TX 75929) or Bread Upon the Waters (www.butw.org). Kathy was committed to supporting these organizations.
