Karen Lee Sanders

Karen Lee Sanders, age 63, of San Augustine, Texas, passed from this life on Monday, December 14, 2020, in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born July 16, 1957, to Elsie (Buckalew) Bagwell and the late Roy Benny Sanders Sr.

Karen was a graduate of San Augustine High School and worked in several occupations during her life. One of her favorite jobs was working as a sign language interpreter. Most recently she worked at CHI St. Luke's Hospital in San Augustine, as the ER registration clerk, and often talked about what great people she worked with. She loved her family and friends.  She had a heart that loved so deeply, and if she loved you, you knew it. However on the flip side, if you crossed a line, well you knew that too! Her sister Reba and life long friend Cathy were her besties. Her nieces Kelley and Hannah and nephews Cody and Colt were her pride and joy. Her spouse Shelly and her shared an incredible love that started the night they met and lasted every day of their 20 years. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her spouse, Shelly Schultz of San Augustine; mother, Elsie Bagwell and husband Harold "Zip" of San Augustine; sister, Reba Chambers and husband Albert of San Augustine; nieces, Kelley Theriot and husband Steven of Carrollton and Hannah Faver of Hemphill; nephews, Cody Sanders and wife Samantha of Norfolk, Va., and Colt Sanders and wife Joni of Waco; lifelong friend, Cathy Sanders; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Benny Sanders Sr., and brother, Roy Benny Sanders Jr. 

Visitation will be Saturday, December 19, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine. Burial will follow at the Lower Chireno Cemetery in Chireno, Texas.
