Judge Betty Lou Loggins Obituary

Betty McCauley Loggins, a native Texan and resident of San Augustine, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Betty was born March 14, 1942, in Milam, Texas, to Robert McCauley and Iris Bland McCauley, who preceded her in death. She married Harold Loggins on December 30, 1976.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Loggins; granddaughter, Tiffany Loggins Mileger; her sisters, Tassie Rice, Winell Buckmaster, and Hattie Jean Williams; and her brothers, Kenneth McCauley and Larry McCauley.

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, J. Harold Loggins; sons, Jim (Rowdy) Roberts, Rodney Roberts and his wife Rene, and Justin Loggins; and her daughters, Liz Roberts Green and her husband Tom Green, Christine Loggins Oates and her husband Dennis Oates, and Charlene Loggins Kenney and her husband Marlon Kenney. She is also survived by her brothers, Travis McCauley, Jack McCauley, Walter Henry (W. H.) McCauley, and sisters Bobbie Marie Jackson and Audrey Wells. Betty’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Susie Roberts Cupp, Cody Roberts Alexander, Bruce Barlow, Sydney Roberts, Shaun Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Tindall Roberts, Karsen Green, Leah Green, Kayden (KK) Green, Lauren Oates, Lindsay Oates, Taylor Kenney, and Kyle Kenney. Her great-grandchildren are Sadie Elizabeth Cupp, Kadence Roberts Alexander, and Kamden Roberts Alexander.  Betty had numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Betty led a life of service. She was cherished for her infectious smile and truly compassionate heart.  She was involved for years with Care and Share and delivered needed Christmas to children all around our county.  She was educated at Shelbyville High School and Panola College.  She earned multiple certifications in her career as a Justice of the Peace and Municipal Judge in San Augustine.  Betty was a cherished member of our community as she took her job much further then expected as her heart led her above and beyond her responsibilities.  She married many couples and remained great friends with them for years to come.  She would truly give you the shirt off her back and never left anyone feeling “judged."

Betty loved to travel to see her children and never missed an opportunity to see her grandchildren for weeks at a time.  She loved playing cards and board games with her siblings and family.  She loved to cook and nothing brought her more joy then spending Christmas with her family.

She leaves hundreds of broken hearts behind, but has left a legacy of goodness to all who knew her.
