Juanice Beard

Mrs. Juanice Harvey Beard, age 92, of Broaddus, passed from this life Friday, October 15, 2021, in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Beard was born on March 29, 1929, in Broaddus, as the elder daughter of Elvin Elias Harvey and Hester Coleman Harvey.  She was a graduate of Broaddus High School.  Juanice married M. A. “Doc” Beard on December 25, 1949, and together they raised five children. 

Juanice was a faithful member of the church of Christ.  She and Doc were active members of congregations in New Orleans, Louisiana, Fort Worth, Texas, and San Augustine, Texas.  Juanice was known for her hospitality.  She was a gifted seamstress and a wonderful cook.

Survivors include sons, Milton A. Beard, Jr. and wife Pamela of Lacombe, LA, and Michael J. Beard and wife Patricia of Montgomery, TX; daughter-in-law, Tammy Neill Wall of Broaddus; daughters, Michelle Chance and husband Stephen of Diboll, TX, and Melissa Denman and husband Dan of The Colony, TX; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brother, Wondale Harvey and wife Sybil of Broaddus; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost sixty years, M.A. “Doc” Beard, Sr.; son, Scott Beard; grandson, Joshua Stephen Chance; sister, Christell Wall; and grandson-in-law, Steven Pait.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 17, 2021, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.  Stephen Wiggins will officiate.  Interment will be in the Harvey Cemetery, located off Highway 147 in Broaddus, Texas.

Pallbearers:  Jarrod Beard, Mark Beard, Cade Beard, Jordan Chance, Alex Denman, and Austin Denman.
