Joyce Bryant Obituary

Mrs. Billie Joyce Bryant, age 91, of San Augustine, Texas, entered into rest on March 15, 2023, at her home in San Augustine County surrounded by family.

She was born April 18, 1931, in San Augustine County to the late John and Linnie Higginbotham. She was a member of the Broaddus Pentecostal Church where she loved to serve and praise the Lord. She spent her life along side her husband ministering to people, visiting and praying for the sick and teaching her family about God and the importance of living to serve the lord with all your heart.

She enjoyed planting a garden and working in her flower beds. She loved canning vegetables, making jelly and fig preserves and cooking for her family, even at 10 o’clock at night when one of her grandchildren asked, “Maw Maw, can you make me a pancake.” She always did it with a smile. She worked along side her husband at their tractor dealership, Bryant Equipment in Nacogdoches, and along side her husband and son in the cattle business on their family farm doing anything that was needed to get the job done. When it was time to harvest hay in the fields, you could always count on her to show up with a mason jar with cold iced tea and some good home cooking, which would always shut down the equipment, immediately.

She was the backbone of her family and was much loved by all of them. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her son, Ray Bryant of San Augustine; grandson, Allen Bryant and fiancé Tanya Bosley of Hudson; granddaughter, Angie McGown and husband Todd McGown of Hudson; great-grandsons, Nick Bryant of Beaumont and Kolby Bryant of San Augustine; great-granddaughters, Ashton Bryant of Beaumont, Taylor McGown of New Orleans, Louisiana, Kyndel Bryant of Hudson, and Kendall and Bailey Bosley, both of Hudson; great-great-granddaughter, Londyn Bryant of Beaumont; and a sister, Dell Arnold of San Augustine.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Linnie Higginbotham; four brothers, Earl Higginbotham, John Hampton Higginbotham, Don (Hick) Higginbotham, and Joe Davis; a sister, Louise Barnes; husband of 63 years, Freeman Bryant; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bryant; and grandson-in-law, Michael Wilson.
