Johnny Dean Watson, age 72, of the Norwood Community in San Augustine County, Texas, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 24, 2019, at his beloved home place in San Augustine County.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Don Lofton and Bro. Gerald Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Sowell Cemetery in San Augustine County.
Visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2019, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.
Mr. Watson was born December 2, 1946, in San Augustine County to parents Burnard Watson and Ostille (Steptoe) Watson and was a longtime area resident. A graduate of Broaddus High School, he was a member of the Baptist church and served his country in the U.S. Army. He had worked in the construction industry and also in propane delivery and a warehouse foreman as well as a meter reader for the city.
His survivors include his wife, Elsie Watson of San Augustine County, Texas; a daughter, Sandra Kay McGee and husband Sam of San Augustine County, Texas; a son, Rodney Earl Coulter of San Augustine County, Texas; Grandchildren, Britny Hutto and husband Paul, Laura McGee, and Kayle McGee, all of San Augustine County, Texas; a great-grandchild, Harper Ezernack of San Augustine County, Texas; a brother, Elwin Watson and wife Judy of Jasper, Texas; and nephews, Mark Watson of Georgetown, Texas, and Jody Watson of Whitehouse, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Billy Wayne Watson.
