Joe W. Davis

Mr. Joe W. Davis, age 72, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Mr. Davis was born July 2, 1948, in Shelby County to parents Linnie (Peavy) and Louis Wayne Davis. He was a longtime area resident and was self-employed in the sheet metal/construction business. Joe was a Church of Christ member and retired from the San Augustine Volunteer Fire Department after many years of faithful service.

His survivors include his wife, Sally Davis of San Augustine, Texas; a son, Joey Davis and wife Pamela of Roanoke, Texas; daughter, Allison Jones and husband Gary of Burleson, Texas; two sisters, Dell Arnold of Nacogdoches and Joyce Bryant of San Augustine, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kaylon Davis Rutherford, Sarah Davis, Jolie Jones, and Macey Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Wayne and Linnie Davis; brothers, Jr. Higginbotham, Earl Higginbotham, and Don "Hick" Higginbotham; a sister, Louise Barnes; and grandchildren, Lexie Jones and Jadon Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Broaddus Cemetery, located off Hwy. 147 North in Broaddus, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers include Ron Cook, Stanley Kovar, Ronald Higginbotham, Durwood Hooper, Mike Jackson, Gary Jones, George Russell, Caleb Rutherford,  Kenneth Poindexter, and B.P. Steptoe.
