Jimmy W. Steptoe

Mr. Jimmy W. Steptoe, age 73, of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Steptoe was born May 21, 1947, in San Augustine County to parents Marcella (Woods) and Fred Steptoe and was a lifelong resident of East Texas. Jimmy worked all of his life as a skilled mechanic and was a member of the Baptist church. 

His survivors include his wife, Audrey Steptoe of Broaddus; his son, Terry Lynn Steptoe and wife Crystal of Lufkin; a brother, Carlton Steptoe of San Augustine; sisters, Carolyn Steptoe and Opal Steptoe, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Blaze Steptoe and Victoria Steptoe, both of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Maggie Lena Phillips of Broaddus; step-children, Jerry Matthew Wise of Broaddus, Jeffrey Wise and wife Pam of Lufkin, Rhonda Weaver and husband Michael of Huntington, and Melody Wise of Broaddus; and step-grandchildren, Cody Wise and wife Kiley of Etoile, Zachary Bryan and wife Katy of Zavalla, Trent Bryan of Huntington, Jessica Stevens of Lufkin, Lindsey Mayes and husband Jeff of Houston, Amanda Arndt and husband Jody of Broaddus, Logan Pleasant of Nacogdoches, and Tiffany Wise of Florida; brother-in-law, Maynard Phillips and wife Jo Ann of Lufkin; seven great-grandchildren, Raelyn Arndt, Lukas Bryan, Beau Wise, and Alvie Wise, Lexi Jenkins, Lathan Jenkins, and  Levi Lovelady; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann Steptoe; a grandchild, Tyler Steptoe; his parents, Marcella and Fred Steptoe; great-grandson, Lake Wise; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathie and Keary Waller; and brother-in-law, Allen Bates.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, San Augustine.

Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Maynard Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Upper Chireno Cemetery, located off FM 95 in Chireno.
