James Oran Davis

Mr. James Oran Davis, age 87, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, in San Augustine, Texas. 

Born December 27, 1934, in San Augustine County to parents Rosa T. (Rains) and Charles Willie Davis, "Oran" was a longtime San Augustine resident.

He served his community as longtime firefighter with San Augustine Volunteer Fire Department, including 32 years as Fire Chief. Oran retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a long career as a rural carrier. He also served his country with the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

His survivors include his sons, Danny Davis and wife Becky of San Augustine, Texas, and Doug Davis and wife Catrina of Montana; a brother, Wilburn Davis of San Augustine, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Jacob Davis, and Rachel Thapar and husband Manny, all of Houston, Texas, Meagan Davis of Bryan, Texas, and Jordan Davis of College Station, Texas; step-grandchildren, Jacen Engelhardt of Richmond, Texas, and Katie Sullivan of Grapevine, Texas; great-grandchildren, Olivia Thapar and Aria Thapar, both of Houston, and Lain Cordell and Millie Davis, both of Bryan, Texas; special caregiver, niece Vonda Sublett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Doyle) Davis, on November 26, 2012; his parents, Rosa and Charles Willie Davis; brothers, Hubert Davis and Luther Davis; and sisters, Ruby Britton and Gracie Smith.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home. 

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
