Gertrude Hardy Obituary

Gertrude Elizabeth Hardy, age 86, a longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life Monday, August 17, 2020, in San Augustine.

Gertrude was born to the late Estelle (Neal) Dominey and John Sebron Dominey on November 17, 1933, in San Augustine County.  After graduation from High School, she married the love of her life, Charles Hardy celebrating 69 years of marriage until he died in 2018.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family and friends.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, and was a wonderful seamstress.  She was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church in San Augustine County.

She is survived by her children, Linda Huber and her husband Phil of Lufkin, Andy Hardy and his wife Mary of San Augustine, Donna Taylor and her husband Monte of San Augustine, Paula Tompkins and her husband Michael of San Augustine, Janet Huddleston and her husband Richard of Franklin, Tennessee, and Carolyn Stanbery and Walter Click of Huntington; brother-in-law, Ray Hardy of San Augustine; sister-in-law, Maxine Arnold of Houston; her beloved grandchildren, Amy Weaver and Brian of The Woodlands, Kelly Holland and Chris of Kentucky, Monica Fuller and Jeff of Hudson, Carlos Taylor of San Augustine, Jon Michael Tompkins and Jessica of Center, Lauren Williams and David of Columbus, Ohio, Alan Huddleston and Iveta of Nashville, Tennessee; Susan Huddleston of Chicago, Illinois, Kristen Huddleston of Arlington, Virginia, Blake Huddleston and Tiffany of Houston, Robert Huddleston and Tara of Katy, Brittany Brewer and Chase of Pollok, and Bobby Stanbery of Orlando, Florida; along with 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Hardy; brother, Johnny Dominey; parents, John Sebron Dominey and Estelle (Neal) Dominey; sister-in-law, Patsy Hardy; brother-in-law, Bill Arnold, and son-in-law, Gene Stanbery.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2020, with Bro. Mike Belgard and Bro. Marty Guidry officiating in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine.  Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery in San Augustine County.

Visitation will be prior to service beginning at 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine.

Pallbearers will include Andy Weaver, Carlos Taylor, Jon Michael Tompkins, Bobby Stanbery, Chase Brewer, and Jeff Fuller.

The family would like to acknowledge with special appreciation, Terisa Johnson and the staff of Colonial Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
