George Wendell McNatt

Mr. George Wendell McNatt, age 71, passed away Sept. 10, 2023, at his residence in San Augustine County, Texas.

George was born on Veterans’ Day in 1951, in Pasadena, Texas. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and went to service overseas for two years as a helicopter crewman. He was discharged in 1976 after recovering from injuries and illness he had sustained while overseas.

He worked out of the Pipefitters union for a number of years. After being married and divorced in the 1980’s, he decided to move to East Texas near friends and lived there until his death.

George loved San Augustine County and the people of the community. He worked as deputy constable for a while as well as serving with the sheriff office in Shelby County, Texas. His career with law enforcement was one of his favorite jobs.

He had several strokes and health issues after retirement which severely hindered his abilities. He always loved his life in his cabin in the Piney Woods.

His remains will be placed at GAR Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma, where he will find eternal peace with loved ones.
