Freeland "F.D." Crowson

Mr. Freeland Douglas "F.D." Crowson, age 79, of Broaddus passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, at CHI St. Luke's Medical Center in Lufkin.

He was born July 28, 1943, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to parents Audrey Louise (Dean) and Fox Jackson Crowson and had been a resident of the Broaddus area for several years.

Freeland attended NMSU soon after graduating high school. He had a great love for rodeoing and rode bulls during that time as well. He was a land and dairy farmer with his parents and brother. Later in life, he met his lifelong partner of 55 years, Tina, settling down and having a family. He enjoyed meeting new people and sharing his life experiences and was always willing to help others.

Freeland was a very successful businessman with several ventures, but his passion in life was fabrication and building drilling rigs for oil companies.

He loved his family and especially his "little dog" as he would say, Rocky.

His survivors include his wife, Tina Marie Crowson of Broaddus; a daughter, Kellie Williams of Lufkin; a son, Shaun Westley "Scooter" Crowson and wife Dawn of Mineola; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Crowson, on December 18, 2022; his parents, F.J. and Audrey Crowson; sister, Jannett Crowson; and a brother, Tommy Crowson.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Tim Swanson officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery near Broaddus.

Pallbearers: Shaun Westley Crowson, Chandler Crowson, Trentton Williams, Joe Pena, Homer Lazo, and Roy Mixon.
