Frank Simmons

Mr. Frank Simmons, age 89, of Pineland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at his residence on FM 83 West.

He was born February 5, 1931, in San Augustine County, Texas, to Francis Floyd Simmons and Verless Verdell Simmons. A member of Trinity Baptist Church, he was a retired railroad depot agent and farmer. 

Frank was quite the entrepreneur, and he very much enjoyed trading in the stock market and researching profitable companies. He spent most days on a dozer and backhoe and enjoyed tinkering with farm machinery and making repairs in his shop, but Frank was mostly just proud to be a Papaw.

His survivors include his wife of 72 years, Pauline Dickerson Simmons of Pineland, Texas; brothers, Johnny Martin Simmons and wife Nelva of Austin, Texas, and James Allen Wells and wife Betty of Broaddus, Texas; son, Joe Simmons and wife Pat of Pineland, Texas; daughter, Dawana "Sissy" Simmons of Pineland, Texas; grandchildren, Joseph Scott Simmons and wife Crystal of Broaddus, Texas, Heather Simmons-Woods and husband Joey of San Augustine, Texas, Tiffany Ann Wilkerson and husband Tony of Pineland, Texas, and Zane Lee Williams and fiance Taylor of Pineland, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Chase White, Jesse Logan Woods and wife Courtney, Melysa BreeAnn White, Case Aaron Woods, Naomi Rene Simmons, Kaiden Eugene Williams, and Nikki Jo Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Floyd Simmons and Verless Verdell Simmons; and a sister, Alice Joy Dawson.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 310 FM 83 East in Broaddus, Texas, with Pastor Don Lofton officiating. Interment will follow at Broaddus Cemetery, located off Hwy. 147 North.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at the church.

Pallbearers: Jeff Boyd, Randy Rogers, Taco Davis, Barry Bennefield, Wesley Bennefield, and Gaylon Bryan. Honorary pallbearer is Raymond Hopson.
