Doris Sandlin Polasek

Mrs. Doris Sandlin Polasek, of San Augustine, passed from this life late Thursday evening, June 15, 2023, in San Augustine, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 8 days.   

She was born November 7, 1930, in Zavalla, Texas, to parents Glea (Gibson) Sandlin and Marshall Elmer Sandlin, and worked for an Abstract office for several years, and was actively involved in the Ladies Red Hat Club, she was a member of the Sweet Adelines club, worked and owned a sales booth in Bogards.  She enjoyed painting, pottery, and loved outdoor gardening, and loved singing in the choir, where she was active in the San Augustine Methodist Church. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Catherine Clemons and Jim Heinz of Lufkin; sons, Richard Hodges and wife Elisabet of Dallas; Randall Hodges of San Augustine; grandchildren, Bridgett Hager, William Clemons, Joshua Clemons, Jennifer Hodges, Kimberly Fussell, Dustin Berry, Brandon Berry, Paula Strittmantter, along with numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Polasek; sister, Marjorie Sue Pulliam; brother, Donald "Sonny" Sandlin. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the First Methodist Church in San Augustine, with Rev. Tim Turner officiating. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.
