Danny Ellis McGee entered into rest with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Overton Brook VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He had obtained the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 28 days.
Danny was born May 10, 1947, to Sam Rayson and Hazel Marie (Burns) McGee. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, where he was a sharpshooter (rifle). He received the National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in Korea.
Danny returned to civilian life and worked as a carpenter for many years willing to work on just about anything. Although Danny didn't have any children of his own, he had many "kids' in his nieces, nephews, and friends children. He never met a child that he did not reach out to and love, and the kids loved him right back. Danny was a member of the Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church and served there anyway possible until his health declined. He loved his brothers and sisters there greatly.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving sister, Martha Hightower; brothers, Sam McGee, Jr, Burbon Thomas McGee, Sr. and wife Tiffiney and Rayson Anthony McGee, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marie McGee; sisters, Hazel Lee McGee, and Sandra Hilton; brothers, premature triplets; brothers-in-law, Dug Hightower and Earl Hilton.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas. Officiating will be Bro. Kevin Gratehouse and Bro. Welton Blackmon. Interment will follow in the Dickerson Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.
Visitation will be Tuesday morning, August 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to funeral service.
