Mr. Curtiss Ray Mincher of San Augustine County passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the age of 74 years, 4 months, 29 days.
He was born February 6, 1948, in Oklahoma. After a distinguished career with the U.S. Army, he retired as a First Sergeant. Mr. Mincher received numerous awards, recognition, and honors while serving his country and was a former American Legion member.
For several years following his retirement from the U.S. Army, he has resided in San Augustine County. Mr. Mincher had a great love for spending time with his family as well gardening and outdoor activities.
His survivors include his wife, Kay Eaton Mincher of San Augustine County; a daughter, Angela Shaffer of San Augustine County; step-daughter, Tami Merchant and husband Jeremy of Carrollton; a sister, Margaret Marie Wagstaff of Broaddus; grandsons, Thomas Bird, James Bird, Jeremy Chad Ayers, Adam Merchant, and Mason Merchant; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his fur babies, Rocky and Ellie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Campbell Wagstaff; father, Riley Mincher; a son, Kevin Thomas Mincher; and brother, Kenneth Riley Mincher.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Don Lofton officiating. Interment will follow with military rites at the Hebron Cemetery, located on County Road 4600 near Broaddus.
