Mr. Charles Alvin Grant, age 88, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Colonial Pines Health Care Center.
Mr. Grant was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Frost (Navarro County), Texas, to parents Robert and Vera (Garrett) Grant. He proudly served his country, being a veteran of the U.S. Army and earned five bronze stars in the Korean War. He retired from the automotive industry as a machinist where he was a respected expert on all types for crankshafts and camshafts. He was a longtime resident of Castro Valley, California, where he raised his family. Mr. Grant retired to San Augustine, Texas, for the last approximately two decades. Mr. Grant was an avid fisherman, semi-pro bowler, automotive enthusiast, dart player and sports fan.
His survivors include his wife of 68 years, Delores Mae Grant; a son, Dr. Charles W. Grant; daughters, Sandra L. Grant-Brown and Connie J. Gonzalez; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and other relatives.
