Carolyn Bell (Oliver) Fitts

Mrs. Carolyn Bell Oliver Fitts of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Nacogdoches Medical Center at the age of 79 years, 7 months, 11 days.

Mrs. Fitts was born January 17, 1944, in Lufkin, Texas, to parents Frank John Oliver and Jewel Odell (Womack) Oliver. She had lived in San Augustine County for several years and was a previous longtime resident of Wells, Texas. She worked with her family's business, Nacogdoches Steel Fabricators, for a number of years. 

Carolyn was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and enjoyed attending singings. Her family, especially grandchildren, was very important in her life. She enjoyed traveling with them and was very passionate about attending and supporting her grandchildren in their many activities. She loved playing 42.

Her survivors include her daughters, Lisa Cartwright and husband Kevin Lynch of San Augustine, Texas, Linda Thornton of San Augustine, Texas, and Cathy Cathey and husband Jimmy of Pollok, Texas; a grandson, Jason Cartwright and wife Jessica of San Augustine, Texas; granddaughters, Heather Childerss and husband Jace of Pollok, Texas, and Cayla Lara and husband Mauricio of San Augustine, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Makenley Cartwright, Elena Childerss, Olivia Lara, and Matthew Lara.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fitts; her parents, Frank John and Jewel Odell Oliver; her siblings, R.L., Mary, Punk, Opal, Hoy, Coy, and Frank; sons-in-law, Charles "Hoss" Thornton and Bryan Cartwright; and a granddaughter, Kristen Cartwright.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Robert Wall officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at the Fitts Family Cemetery, located on FM 3017 in San Augustine County.

Pallbearers: Gary Oliver, John Oliver, Billy Wayne Oliver, Jay Oliver, Keith Oliver, Chuck Oliver, and Bo Jones. Honorary pallbearers: Jimmy Sharpton and Wesley Hoyt.
