Billard Mirrion Farr Obituary

Mr. Billard Mirrion Farr of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020, at his residence at the age of 92.

Born January 7, 1928, in Huntington, Texas, to parents John Enoch and Sara Norwood Farr, he grew up in the Attoyac River Bottom area. Mirrion was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in various capacitites, including driver of the General, corporal with the constabulary brigade in Germany while things were in chaos after World War II. He had been active with the military organizations and had participated with funeral detail for many veterans' services, taking pride in presenting flags to these families.

Mr. Farr was as a welder, pipefitter, and boilermaker, working internationally helping build plants in Iraq as well as other locations.

Mirrion was a good hearted generous caring man with a great sense of humor. Everyone knew that Mirrion had a "candy tree" in his backyard that later turned into a "money tree!"

He had a great love of outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and also raised chickens. He enjoyed feeding the catfish in his pond, which made the fishing easier. In gardening, he was known for his sweet corn harvests and preserving figs. His favorite breakfast meal was hot biscuits with ribbon cane syrup. Mr. Farr enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler well into his 90's.

Family was very dear to Mirrion, especially his children and grandchildren. He even dressed as Santa for the family kids and told them Reeces and Cokes gave him his muscles. A "rite of passage" for all the kids in the family was climbing the cedar pole in the Farr living room.

He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Shriners. Mr. Farr could often be found driving one of the little Shiners' cars in parades and exhibitions.

Always telling a joke, Mirrion answered his telephone "Farr Department." A favorite rhythm of his went, "Farr brender, Eye winkler, Tom Tinker, Nose Dipper, mouth eater, chin chopper, gully, gully, gully."

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Marlon Farr and wife Carolyn; daughters, Ann Farr Pike and Myra Farr Williams and husband Mike; grandchildren, Cody Farr and wife Shannon, Brandon Farr and wife, Caitlin, Bridget Pike Johnson and hsuband Bucky, Heather Pike Luke and husband Scottie, Jonathan Pike and wife Kimberly, Morgan Williams Knauth and husband Ryan, and Micah Williams; great-grandchildren, Cayden Farr, Carson Farr, Jude Farr, Marshall Farr, Hallie Farr, Jessica Johnson, Tristen Ochoa, Peyton Luke, Nathan Pike, and Lincoln Pike; one great-great-granddaughter, Ansley; sisters, Holly Farr Dixon and June Farr Sullivan; a brother, Pat Farr; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
