Barbara Sue Sims Obituary

Barbara Sue Horne Sims, 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 14, 2022.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, San Augustine, Texas. 

Funeral services will be held following visitation at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. T.A. Lane officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Joel Halbert Cemetery, Milam, Texas. 

Barbara was born in Milam, Texas, to James and Laura Elliott Horne on August 18, 1933. The family subsequently moved to Fort Worth and she graduated Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Class of 1951. 

She married Carroll Andrew Sims on May 22, 1953, in Fort Worth. 

Barbara worked at the Medical Arts Building in downtown Fort Worth as a medical histologist for 22 years. Barbara was highly regarded and trained many new technicians over the course of her career. She was also a lifelong, avid collector of antiques. Barbara became such an experienced and trusted local authority regarding antiques that she was asked on multiple occasions to conduct estate sales, which resulted in a second career spanning 40 years. She was a longtime member of Northside Assembly of God in Fort Worth. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James Elton and Laura Odie Elliott Horne; and brother, James Etoy Horne.

Barbara is survived by her niece, Patricia Ann Horne Humiston and her husband Lanny Neal of Southlake, Texas; great-niece, Patricia Michele Humiston Caput and her husband Michael Shaun and their children Isabella “Ellie” Laura Ann and Thomas Anthony Michael of Westminster, Maryland; great-nephew, Michael Patrick Humiston and wife Rebekah and their children Kailyn Leighanne, Miya Rei, Olivia Elliott, and Oliver Neal of Arlington, Texas; and sister-in-law, Barbara Nell Fox Horne of North Richland Hills, Texas. Dear friends of Barbara were Leticia Acosta Clay, Ana Kristina Clay, William Allen Holt, Bill Cable Hart, and Luningning Cordero McElfresh.

Pallbearers will be Michael Patrick Humiston, Michael Shaun Caput, and George Clifton Young. Honorary pallbearer will be Welden Ellis Elliott.
