Arce (Fitzgerald) LeGrand

Arce LeGrand, age 100, of San Augustine, Texas, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, in San Augustine. She was born March 1, 1921, in Denning, Texas, to the late Bennie Polk Fitzgerald and Leona (Sanders) Fitzgerald.

She married Walter Watson LeGrand and he preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. LeGrand had many talents, such as sewing, quilting, needlework, and cooking. She was the owner of LeGrand's Custom Draperies for many years. She enjoyed studying the Bible and she taught Sunday School for 65 years at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1938. She had read the Bible 25 times. She was very fascinated about ancestry and became a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas in 1980. She served as president of the Ezekiel Cullen Chapter 1987-1989. She volunteered many years quilting at Twin Lakes Nursing Home to raise money for residents. She also taught adult & children painting. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with her granddaughter Kimberly and Alaska with grandson Nathan.  She also took many cruises with Ira Harvey.

Those left to cherish her memory include son Bobby LeGrand and wife Jeannie Wells LeGrand of McComb, MS, grandson Tyler LeGrand of McComb, MS, granddaughter Kimberly LeGrand Bourgeois and husband Brad of Denham Springs, La., great-grandchildren Victoria Angelle Bourgeois and Trevor Waller of Lafayette, La., Katie Bourgeois Nauta and husband Taylor of Watson, La., great-great-grandchildren Alex Anthony Rodriquez, Zoey Angelle Waller, Zander Lynn Waller, Mia Belle Nauta, Layla Rose Nauta.

She was preceded in death by parents Bennie and Leona Fitzgerald; husband Watson LeGrand; brother Melford Fitzgerald; sister-in-law Betty Fitzgerald.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in the Norwood Community of San Augustine County, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Bro. Gerald Sowell and Bro. Hugh Mixon officiating. Interment will follow at Macune Cemetery located on SH 147, San Augustine County, Texas.
