Mr. James Daylon Witter of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Shelby County, Texas, at the age of 25 years, 6 months, 18 days.
Daylon was born August 15, 1998, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was a longtime resident of San Augustine County and worked as a tree trimmer with Hoffpauir Tree Service. He had a passion for the outdoors and a great love for all types of hunting.
His survivors include his parents, Tisha and J.D. Burns of San Augustine; sisters and brother-in-law, Jaysa and Coy Bennefield and Kinley Burns, all of San Augustine; a step-brother, Derek Burns of San Augustine; niece, Emmy Joe Bennefield of San Augustine; grandparents, Terry Joe Sr. and Julia Montes of Lufkin, Texas, and Debbie and Bruce Johnson of Zavalla, Texas; aunts and uncles, Brandy and Chris Nair of Hudson, Texas, Terry "Bubba" Montes and B.J. Robertson, John and Griselda Montes, Brandon Montes, and Matthew and Rachel Montes, all of Lufkin, Renne Wall and Sissy Burns, both of San Augustine, John and Nikki Mayhugh of Chireno, Texas, and Joey and Cassie Bynum of Lufkin; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Judy Burns; and great-grandparents, Clyde and Opal Montes and J.W. Knight.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Robert Byley officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Dickerson Cemetery, located on County Road 4255 in San Augustine County.
